After getting Ethier I busted it back towards home to try and head out to this event. I got word of this event about a week ago and have been trying to get more information ever since. A few friends I called and emailed the offices multiple times, and we really couldn't get the same name twice of who might attend. What I did know is that there would be a celebrity home run derby between Jose Canseco and Denny Crine and afterwards there would be a college all star baseball game. Its a summer league kind of like the Cape Cod League, but not nearly the same type of talent, a lot of the top college talent goes to the Cape Cod, I don't think anyone from this league will get drafted. None the less, it was 10 dollars a person and all the money will go to charity. It was a family night and I had my nephews with me and they would be free to get in. I knew Canseco would be there, I heard rumblings of Rod Carew and Maury Wills, along with guys like Steve Garvey. None of the A list guys showed, but there was a decent crowd. Here are my results, with some help.
Here are some pictures of some guys signing

Honestly this was just a great event, it wasn't too crowded, but it still looked like they made quite a bit of money for ALS (Lou Gerhigs desise) Some really interesting things happened while I was there. Scoiscia loved my nephews because they were trying to get his attention by calling him Mike Sushi, I guess they couldn't say it right. Also Steve Lyons hit on my mother and added "Phsyco" to eight of the nine autographs he signed for me. At first it seemed like Canseco might not sign, then it was looking like he was doing one per, then he started to open up a little bit and sign more and more. When we came to the table he was talking to his girlfriend about how cute my nephew was and how he thought he looked like a little girl he knew. He was telling his girlfriend all about it, I proceeded to tell Canseco that he was a boy and he just had long hair because his parents are surfers and they won't let me cut it off. If you have been reading my blog you see that when I take my nephews places, the athletes usually fall in love with him. When Canseco realized that he was a boy he instantly fell in love, and even though there was a big autograph line he was telling jokes with him and the two of them seemed to be having a good time. Canseco kept telling me that he needed to be a model, I told him that we found someone from Quicksilver who said the same thing, but he kind of failed at his first photoshoot because he was too excited and he couldn't sit still. Canseco then started to show him how to sit still and take pictures. At this time I realized that I should be videoing this because it was a pretty cool moment. Then my nephew finally worked up some courage, he was kind of being shy before and my mom told him to ask Jose to be his modeling agent, here's the video. Canseco says he will be his agent and then proceeds to tell his handler to give me his number. Check it out!
Honestly this was just a great event and a lot of fun. I was happy to bring my family here and see some of my autograph friends. Everyone got a lot of cards signed and hopefully a lot of money was raised to a great cause. My nephews also got some mini-bats and minor league baseballs signed that they were giving out to them, but i don't feel like posting anymore pictures.
